About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the delivery of the Bruce Highway Upgrade Project (Gateway to Dohles Rocks) in South East Queensland.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile transport infrastructure program, working within a high-performing project team alongside government stakeholders, engineering consultants, and contractors.

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and project engineering support across the design and delivery phases, ensuring engineering activities are delivered in accordance with project requirements, standards, and best practice.


Key Responsibilities

Provide technical engineering advice and support throughout the project lifecycle

• Coordinate and review engineering design activities to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards

• Support procurement activities, including preparation and evaluation of tender submissions

• Assist in risk management, change control, and project governance processes

• Prepare technical reports, briefing notes, and project documentation

• Coordinate activities with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders

• Support delivery of project objectives within time, cost, and quality requirements

• Assist in mentoring and supporting junior engineering staff


Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in project engineering within transport or major infrastructure projects

• Strong experience in road or highway infrastructure delivery, including design review and project coordination

• Demonstrated capability in project management, risk management, and change control processes

• Experience working with engineering consultants and contractors on complex infrastructure projects

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills


Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil or related discipline)

✔ Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) – Engineers Australia

Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)

✔ Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in transport infrastructure projects

✔ Demonstrated experience in road or highway infrastructure delivery

✔ Current Class C Driver’s Licence

✔ Ability to obtain a Criminal History Check if required

✔ Ability to maintain Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance


Highly Desirable

• Experience working on Queensland Government transport infrastructure projects

• Familiarity with Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) standards and specifications

• Experience delivering major highway or road upgrade projects
